Two Officers 'Ambushed' And Shot 'By Ex-Cop'
The officers responded to a domestic dispute situation in a home in Georgia and find a woman dead, before being shot by the suspect.
Three people are dead and a county sheriff and deputy were wounded after a domestic dispute seemingly turned into an ambush, Georgia police said.
The officers responded to a 911 call on Sunday night and found a woman dead in the garage of a home in Clarkesville, a small town in northeastern Georgia.
As they entered the house to check for other victims, "it appears they were ambushed”, said Rusty Andrews of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The two - Sheriff Joey Terrell and Deputy Bill Zigan - were shot and taken to hospital.
The alleged shooter was identified as 41-year-old Anthony Giaquinta, a former police officer who had been fired.
He died in the shooting and another man was also found dead outside the home. The circumstances of their deaths were not immediately clear.
Neither officer had life-threatening injuries.
